How to use Reel ideas provided in the Coffee & Contracts Newsletter

Every week, Coffee & Contracts shares an email newsletter with trending Reel audios and corresponding hook ideas to give our readers inspiration for filming their own Reels. ( Why are trending Reel audios important? They are a great way to have your content reach a wider audience!).
The email you'll receive from Coffee & Contracts will look like this:

Now, let's walk through how to use these Trending Reel Audios + Ideas
  1. Write your script:
    1. With the ideas provided in the email, ask ChatGPT to write a video script for you. (Tip: ask Chat GPT to keep your script under 30 seconds. The shorter the better!)
    2. If you're a Coffee & Contracts Member and the idea mentions to reference a post idea from the Content Calendar, copy the caption, and ask Chat GPT reword it for you.
  2. Use a teleprompter
    1. Use the CapCut app to copy and paste the script into the teleprompter. Note: You can pause in between sentences and the app will automatically cut those out!
    2. Add dynamic captions
    3. Download the video to your camera roll
  3. Click the audio provided in the email newsletter and click "Save audio". Then click "Open in app"
  4. On your home feed swipe your finger from left to right to open the camera
  5. Toggle the bottom buttons to "Reel"
  6. Click the Audio icon (music note) on the left toolbar
  7. Click "Saved" and you will see the audio saved here.
  8. Upload your video from your camera roll by clicking the square in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  9. In the case that you are adding your own voice over, lower the sound of the song's audio:
    1. Click on the music icon (top toolbar) to turn down the music. We recommend lowering the music to a level between 3-5 to ensure your voice comes through!
  10. Grab a Reel Cover Template from C&C and use as the cover image.

How do I film "B-Roll" for my Reel?

The term B-roll originates from the early days of film, when editors inserted supplemental footage, or B-roll, into the main footage.

Similarly in modern times, B-roll video is the transition clips, the supplemental video, the filler clips, that you can film in advance and use at a later date for video and Reel content.

Examples of B-roll:

  • Short clips you gather while you're out and about in your city (at a restaurant, happy hour, or out for an ice cream)
  • Short clips you gather while you're out doing real estate activities (preparing for an open house, at a home improvement store, at a final walkthrough).
  • Short clips you gather with the help of a tripod (typing on your computer, making coffee in the morning, or having a client call)

We LOVE B-roll style videos because you can capture footage while you're going about your day and then use the clips later for Reels and other videos.
