How to Set up a Landing Page + Deliver a Lead Magnet in FloDesk

In many of our social media templates, we recommend promoting a free downloadable resource, called a lead magnet, in exchange for the viewer's email address. In this article, we show you how to set up and deliver your free lead magnet using Flodesk.


What is a Lead Magnet and Landing Page?

A lead magnet is a valuable, free resource offered to your audience in exchange for their email address. (Think: a home buyer guide, relocation guide, or a local seasonal guide–all available through Coffee & Contracts). A landing page, also called a form, is a standalone web page designed to collect your lead's email addresses in exchange for your lead magnet.

How To Create a Landing Page & Deliver a Lead Magnet in Flodesk

Step One: Choose Your Lead Magnet

  1. Choose a lead magnet that your ideal client would find valuable. Browse lead magnets in the Coffee & Contracts library.

  2. Customize the design.

  3. Download ALL pages of the lead magnet as "PDF Standard".

Step Two: Set up your Landing Page

Create a landing page (also called a form) where leads can input their contact information in exchange for your lead magnet. We recommend using Flodesk forms for this.

  1. Open our form template in FloDesk.

  2. Click "Start designing now" to begin editing.

  3. Update the placeholder image using a photo from the C&C stock library, or from a free website like Unsplash.com, Dupephotos.com, or Pexels.com.

4. Update the copy to reflect the lead magnet you are promoting.

5. Go to Settings and under "Choose segments," start typing to create a new segment for this lead magnet (I.E. "Home Buyer Guide").

6. Click Share. ⭐️ This is the link to your landing page – Share and promote it! People who complete this form will be added to your email list to receive your lead magnet.

Step three: Deliver the Lead Magnet

  1. In Flodesk, go Workflows and click New Workflow > Start from scratch. Name the workflow.

  2. Click "Add trigger". Choose the option "Begin workflow when a subscriber is added to segment(s)" and select the segment you just created.

  3. Add your lead magnet delivery email

    1. Hover your mouse over the vertical line between "Trigger" and "Exit"

    2. Select the "+" icon

    3. Select Email > Create new email > Start from scratch

    4. Name the email "[Lead magnet] delivery email"

    5. Customize the delivery email

  4. Upload your lead magnet to the email

    1. Option 1 - Recommended if the lead magnet file size is under 10 MB

      1. Click the Click Here button.

      2. On the right column, click Link > Click File

      3. Click Upload file > Upload the lead magnet

    1. Option 2 - Recommended if the lead magnet file size is over 10 MB

      1. In the top-left corner, click the New button

      2. Select Folder from the dropdown menu.

      3. Name the folder "Live Downloads" (this ensures you recognize it as important and avoid accidentally deleting it).

      4. Upload your lead magnet as a PDF to the "Live Downloads" Folder

      5. Copy the "View" Link

        1. Right-click on the uploaded guide file and select Get Link.

        2. In the sharing settings popup: Set the access to Anyone with the link and the role is set to Viewer (not Editor).

        3. Click Copy Link to save the URL to your clipboard.

        4. Hyperlink the lead magnet within the body of the email, or add a button element. To add a button, hover your mouse over the text box > Select the "+" icon > Select Button. Paste the link to your lead magnet.

  5. Review & Set Live

    1. Select "Finish"

    2. Add a subject line and preview text to your email.

      1. Example subject line: "Your [lead magnet] is here!"

      2. Example preview text: "Access it now"

    3. Select "Publish" to set this email workflow Live. Now, anytime someone submits their contact information to your form, they will receive this email with your lead magnet!
