How to Get Recommended by ChatGPT as a Real Estate Agent

More and more people are using AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity to find local service providers — including real estate agents. Here's how to show up when someone asks for the best agent in your area.

Written by Nola Gehring

1. Test what's already showing up in your area

  • Go to ChatGPT and search: "Who is the best real estate agent in [your city]?"

  • You can also search by niche: "Who is the best agent for first-time home buyers in [your city]?" or "Who is the best agent in [your neighborhood]?"

  • ChatGPT will show you which sources it's pulling from — use this to reverse engineer what's working.

  • You can also ask ChatGPT directly: "Why did you pull these names? Where did this information come from? How can I show up?"

2. Get featured on high-authority lists

  • Apply to be listed on expertise.com as a top agent in your area (there may be an application fee).

  • Create or claim profiles on Fast Expert, Homelight, Clever Real Estate, and Real Trends.

  • Gather reviews on those platforms.

  • Reach out to local publications for features or award nominations.

  • The more credible websites that list you as a "top" or "best" real estate agent, the more likely ChatGPT is to surface your name.

3. Optimize your review platforms

  • Fully build out your profiles on Zillow, Realtor.com, Google Business Profile, and Redfin.

  • When asking clients for reviews, give them a fill-in-the-blank example that naturally includes your neighborhood, city name, and specialties.

  • Aim to maintain a near 5.0 rating with fresh reviews coming in regularly — block time each month to request new ones.

4. Strengthen your SEO and authority signals

  • If you have an established website, publish neighborhood-specific blog posts with keyword-rich content like "best real estate agent in [city]" or "[neighborhood] homes for sale."

  • Guest post on local lifestyle blogs or media pages — if you're listed as the author and linking back to your website, it boosts your authority online.

  • Pitch yourself to local news outlets for market commentary, or use tools like HARO (Help a Reporter Out) or Quoted to get featured as a source.

5. Maintain a strong social media presence

  • As of July 2024, Instagram profiles are fully discoverable in search engines — so consistent posting matters more than ever.

  • Include your city name and the words "real estate" or "realtor" in your Instagram display name and bio.

  • Use SEO-friendly keywords in your captions and posts. Coffee & Contracts content is already built with this in mind — we include those keywords for you.

  • Test it yourself: search "[your city] realtor Instagram" or "[your city] real estate agent" on Google to see what's coming up.

6. Check ChatGPT monthly to track your progress

  • ChatGPT frequently updates how it surfaces information, so make it a habit to check monthly.

  • Search for the best agent in your area or niche and see who's showing up — use it to gauge whether your strategy is working or if you need to shift your approach.
