Use the guidelines and instructions below to make the most of your C&C Design Templates!

1. Avoid your design getting cut off on your your Instagram profile.

You'll notice our Instagram post templates are sized 1080x1350 (portrait). This is a stylistic update that Instagram has placed preference on recently. The reason for this update is because when someone is scrolling on the Instagram platform, a longer, portrait shaped image will take up more "real estate" on your screen, in turn, keeping you on that post longer.

There are a few things to know with these 1080x1350 portrait sized post templates:

  • Your post will be cropped into a 1080x1080 square on your Instagram profile. This cropping applies to the first page (cover photo) of your design only. To ensure the important parts of your post are visible, our team adds guides to our templates in Canva. Stay within these guides and you will not be affected by the cropping.

To add these guides to your Canva design go to File > View Settings > Show Rulers and Guides. Then click & drag down from the top of the design window until the purple rulers reach 135 and 1215.

2. Use Find & Replace Text.

Many of our templates include placeholders for you to edit in your city or Instagram Handle. To quickly change these placeholders in bulk you can use the Find & Replace Text option in Canva.

Click File > Find and replace text. Or use "Command" + "F" to find and replace text. Update placeholder text in the templates like "@yourinstagramhandle" and "City Name" to your own information.

3. Change the style of your design based on a template you like.

In your Canva design, click on Design in the left tool bar and locate a template you like. Hover over the design and click the three dots on the top right of the template. Cick "Apply style only" and it will change the fonts and colors of your template to match that template.

4. Change the colors and fonts of your design all at once.

In your Canva design, click on Design in the left tool bar. Toggle over to Styles. Shuffle through different color palettes and fonts to find one you like. Apply to all pages.

Additionally, if you change the font or color of an element, look for the pop up on the bottom left that gives you the option to "Change all"

5. How to Pull other pages into your current design.

If you're working on a post template or guide and you want to use a page from another project you can quickly and easily insert that page into your current design.

Go to "Projects." Click "See all" to view all previous designs. Select the project. Then select the page you'd like to insert or "apply all pages"

6. How to easily move pages around within your project

Click the 4 squares on the bottom right of your design.

Click and hold the page you'd like to move. Drag and drop it in the order you prefer.

7. Use your own images.

Our templates include examples of what it would look like if you use your own personal branding images in our templates. Simply upload your images into Canva then drag them into the template to replace the image. You will get much better engagement on your posts and if you use your own personal branding images in our templates!

8. How to Use the Background Remover Tool

Some of our templates include examples using the Background Remover tool (example below). To add your own image, you must have Canva Pro. Upload your image, click Edit image > BG Remover to achieve this look with your images.

If you DO NOT have Canva Pro, delete the example image to download the template without upgrading to Canva Pro.

To remove the background from an image, upload the image you wish to use.

Then, click on the photo from your uploads to the left to bring it into the design.

With the image selected, click Edit Image from the top toolbar.

Then click BG Remover

Click BG Remover again to touch-up any areas you want restored or removed.

Adjust the brush size for fine-tuning and toggle show original image for an alternative view.

Once you're happy with your image you can download it with a transparent background and re-upload it to Canva to place it into a new C&C template.

Or simply copy and paste it in Canva directly into a C&C template.

If you do not have Canva Premium, you can remove the background of an image for free at remove.bg

9. How do I download animated GIF templates?

To download a template that includes an animated video or GIF, download that individual page as an MP4 file.

To do this, click Share > Download > Under File Type make sure MP4 is selected > Under Select Pages, select the page with the video animation, uncheck any additional pages. Then, download any additional pages/slides as a PNG files.

10. How do I get the same fonts as Coffee and Contracts?

Some of the fonts we use in our templates are purchased outside of Canva and uploaded into our templates. The license we own on these fonts are non-transferrable and you are only permitted to use these fonts within our templates. If you would like to, you can google the name of the font and purchase it. However, you will need Canva pro in order to upload fonts.

We purchased Editors Note and Perfectly Nineties from Jen Wagner.

Use the code HALEY for 15% off.

Once you purchase your font and follow the download instructions from the source, upload the file into Canva.

Add Textbox > Click Text "Amaranth" > Upload a Font
