Have you ever been designing and accidentally keep moving an element around? Frustrated objects aren't staying in place?

The lock elements feature on Canva helps to avoid making unintentional changes while you edit other parts of your design. Further, you may come across an element within our template that's locked for this very reason, you can edit this by unlocking the element.

How to lock or unlock:

  1. Create or open an existing design.

  2. Click to select the element you want to lock. You can also hold Shift on your keyboard, and click on multiple elements to select several at a time.

  3. Click Lock or the padlock icon on the toolbar above the editor.

  4. To unlock, click to select the locked elements, and click the padlock icon again.
