To upload your own photos:
Step 1: Click "Uploads" from the left toolbar > Click "Upload Files" to upload your photos.
Step 2: Drag and drop your images into the design to update the placeholder.

Step 1: Upload Your Image
Click Uploads on the left sidebar in Canva.
Click Upload Files button to add your image.
Step 2: Replace the Background
Drag and drop your uploaded photo onto the existing background.

📍 How to Replace the Background Photo with One of Your City/Area
Step 1: Locate a photo of your city or state
In Canva’s Elements tab, search for your city or state.
If you’re in a smaller town that doesn’t appear in search, try searching for your state instead.
Look for scenic photos that reflect the vibe of your area—like a field for Texas, mountains for Colorado, or coastal views for Florida.
Having trouble finding a photo in Canva? Grab one from your phone's camera roll or check out Unsplash.com or Pexels.com for free photos.
Step 2: Upload Your Image
Click Uploads on the left sidebar in Canva.
Click Upload Files to add your image.
Step 3: Replace the Background
Drag and drop your photo onto the existing background.
Step 4: Make adjustments to your photo:
🌟 How to Make Your Photo Brighter or Darker
Step One: Click the background photo, then click the Transparency icon (checkerboard icon in the top toolbar).
Step Two: Click and drag the slider to increase or decrease the transparency.
Note: C&C designs are defaulted to a black background color to improve readability of elements & text.
➡️ How to Adjust the Positioning of your Background Photo
Double click the background photo.
Click + drag the photo (left, right, up, down) to reposition it.
Click + drag the corners of the photo to resize it.
If text is covering key parts of the photo:
Move the text around.
Make the text smaller.
Adjust the position of your photo.
🔎 How to Use Find & Replace Text
Quickly update template placeholder text like "[City Name]" with a few clicks.
Step One: On the top toolbar click "File" > "Find and replace text" (Or use the keyboard shortcut "Command" "F").
Step Two: Type the words you want to replace like "[City Name]" with your own information.
Step Three: Click "Replace" or "Replace All" to apply the change across the design.
🔀 How To Move Pages Around In Your Design
Step One: Click the 4 square grid icon on the bottom right of your design window.
Step Two: Click and drag the page you'd like to move to the location you prefer.
🎨 How To Change the Colors in a Template
Step One: Click on any element (text, background, shape, etc.) whose color you want to change.
Step Two: A color box will appear in the top toolbar.
Step Three: Click it, then choose your brand color or input your hex code.
Tip: After selecting your font, click “Change all” to apply it to all matching colors in the design.
🔠 How To Change the Fonts in a Template
Step One: Click on any text box
Step Two: In the top toolbar, click the font name to open the font menu.
Step Three: Select your preferred font from the list or upload your own (Pro users only).
Step Four: Adjust font size, weight, and spacing as you like.
Tip: After selecting your font, click “Change all” to apply it to all matching text in the design.
Note: Some fonts in our templates are uploaded from outside Canva and licensed for our templates only. This means they can’t be transferred or used outside our templates.

💼 How To Add Your Brand Kit

Quickly access your brand's fonts, colors and logos by creating a brand kit in Canva.
Step One: Go to your Canva Home dashboard.
Step Two: Click on Brand → Brand Kit in the left menu.
Step Three: Upload your logos, select your brand fonts, and input your colors (hex codes).

Once you purchase & download your font, upload the font file into Canva.
Step One: Select Brand (left toolbar) > Select Brand Kits > Add New.
Step Two: Under Fonts > Select Add new > Select Upload a font.

Step One: Upload your image to the design.
Step Two: With the image selected, click Edit image in the top toolbar.
Step Three: Select BG Remover.
👉 How To Remove The Background (Free)
Don't have Canva Pro? No problem–you can remove the background of an image for free at remove.bg.
Step One: Click the blue "upload image" button and select the image you'd like to remove the background from.
Step Two: After it has removed the image, you can make slight adjustments using the erase or restore button.
Step Three: When ready, click download to download your image.
🖊️ How to add an outline to your image
Step One: Click on the image you wish to add an outline to.
Step Two: Click Edit > Shadows > Outline
Step Three: Scroll down and adjust the color and size of the outline.
🎉 How to Pull Other Designs Into Your Current Design
If you want to pull in a page from a different design into your current design:
Step One: Go to "Projects." Click "See all" to view all previous designs.
Step Two: Select the design.
Step Three: Choose the page you'd like to insert or select "apply all pages".
✅ How To Change the Style of Your Design Using Another Template
Step One: In your Canva design, click "Design" in the left tool bar and locate a template you like.
Step Two: Hover over the design and click the three dots on the top right of the template.
Step Three: Click "Apply style only" and it will change the fonts and colors of your template to match that design.
