How to Deliver a Downloadable Guide (Lead Magnet & Landing Page in FloDesk)

How to send a free resource, lead magnet or downloadable tool as a download n exchange for emails using FloDesk.

What is a Lead Magnet and Landing Page?

A lead magnet is a valuable resource offered to your audience in exchange for their email address, helping you grow your email list. Common examples include a home buyer guide, relocation guide, or seasonal guides, all available through Coffee & Contracts. A landing page is a standalone web page designed to promote your lead magnet, collect emails, and build your list.

Step One: Collect their email address via a Landing Page

Say you're promoting the 90 Days to Homeowner guide and you make a post saying "comment "Home" below for my guide"

You will send people a form where they will input their information. We recommend using Flodesk forms for this. Flodesk will automatically send them the guide once they receive their information.

  1. Open our form template in FloDesk.

  2. Click "Start designing now" to begin editing.

  3. Replace the image using our mockup template. We recommend downloading the cover page of your lead magnet as a PNG and uploading it into the mockup template.

4. Replace the copy to reflect the lead magnet you are promoting.

5. Go to Settings and under "Choose segments," start typing to create a new segment for this lead magnet (e.g., "Home Buyer Guide").

6. Next, go to Workflows and click "Add trigger". Choose the option "Begin workflow when a subscriber is added to segment(s)" and select the segment you just created.

7. Customize the email in your workflow to include your lead magnet. You can upload your lead magnet as a PDF to Google Drive, then copy and paste the view link into the email 👉🏻 see the next step for how to do this!


Step Two: How to Deliver the Downloadable Guide using Flodesk:

1. Create a Folder in Google Drive

  • In the top-left corner, click the New button

  • Select Folder from the dropdown menu.

  • Name the folder "Live Downloads" (this ensures you recognize it as important and avoid accidentally deleting it).

  • Click Create to finalize.


2. Upload the Guide to the "Live Downloads" Folder

  • Open the "Live Downloads" folder by double-clicking it.

  • Drag and drop your guide file into the folder, or click NewFile upload and select the guide from your computer.

  • Wait until the upload is complete (you’ll see a checkmark next to the file when it’s done).


3. Copy the "View" Link

  • Right-click on the uploaded guide file and select Get Link.

  • In the sharing settings popup:

    • Ensure the access is set to Anyone with the link and the role is set to Viewer (not Editor).

  • Click Copy Link to save the URL to your clipboard.

  • Click Done to close the popup.


4. Add the Link to the Button in Your Delivery Email

  • Open your email draft or email platform where you’re creating the delivery email.

  • Locate the button you want to use for linking the guide (e.g., "Download Guide" button).

  • Click on the button to edit it, then paste the copied link into the URL/link field.

  • Save or update the email draft.


5. Test the Link

  • Send a test email to yourself to ensure the button works and directs you to the correct guide file.


By following these steps, your guide will be safely stored in Google Drive, and the delivery email will include a functional link for recipients to access the file.


Step Three: Finish your Email & Press send

In this guide, you’ll find [a quick breakdown of key takeaways or sections], designed to help you [specific benefit of the guide]. I’m confident this will make [buying your first home, planning your move, enjoying fall] a breeze!
